Whitney Robinson specializes in epidemiologic methods for health disparities research. For example, Whitney R. Robinson’s current R01 investigates why Black women in the U.S. experience worse health and healthcare than other Americans when it comes to gynecological issues. She takes an intersectional perspective and believes that Black people in U.S. are especially important to study because they are like "the canary in the coal mine": the kind of changes that would improve the health of Black people would dramatically improve the health of Americans as a whole. Other ongoing work investigates racial inequities in screening for endometrial cancer and a SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence study of the newly pregnant. Because this population is enriched for young adults, immigrants, and low-wage, “essential” workers, the study design allows Dr. Robinson’s team to characterize infection history among in understudied populations in the U.S.
